Creativity

Artie and the 'choke
sketch 5 x7, graphite
copyright Jeanette Jobson

I'm an artist that likes to work from a reference, either life or good photo. I can rearrange colours or light sources but have to really push myself to think outside the box when it comes to creating a combination of effects of objects that work together to form a whole.

This sketch came about as the result of a drawing challenge in WetCanvas. The subject was an artichoke. The challenge was to use it in a different way than the reference showed. No, the frog isn't being eaten, its just along for the ride. How the frog and fork and pan of water got there, who knows? Minds are mysterious things and mine scares me sometimes.

I'm posting this early today as I have a lecture to attend tonight about selling and marketing art.

i love the little frog! isn't working from imagination fun? it certainly has it's challenges but it's fun to let your creativity run wild and free.

Thanks Billie. Creativity can come up with amazing results and really makes you think and plan.

However, anyone who thinks that drawing anything out of imagination is easy, may like to rethink that thought. :)

I am not able to do from imagination either. My real first attempt was when Al posted that pencil picture and said create. I had fun and really enjoyed looking at all the amazing things that came from everyone. I even did two or three. Mine were not very "imaginative" but some in that thread were awesome. I haven't tried the artichoke yet.

I love the little froggy coming over.

I've been away and haven't checked on you since your ice storm photos. This is so great. You have some great work here along with comments and inspiration.

Thanks....
