Jugs to the past

Past Times
5 x 7 oils

This jug is likely similar to those in other houses around the world, but to me it brings memories as it belonged to my grandmother. Its held everything from applesauce or custard to gravy. The spout is chipped but it remains in service still.

I was looking for something to paint today and this was at the front of the cupboard. The apple was the remains of some Christmas ones - or pre-Christmas ones that are ready to be made into applesauce to fill the jug once more.

It was late in the day when I took the photo so its a little out of focus. I'm going to stop apologizing for winter light in my photos. Perhaps its a Canadian thing - saying sorry.

Sorry.

I had someone say to me that they knew I was Canadian and not American because I was always saying sorry :p I didn't know what to say lol

We use to have a jug like this but it got dropped in a move and never replaced. Not a fan of gravy so it wasn't a huge loss :p

Funny isn't it? It must be built in!

I'm always saying sorry too - does that make me Canadian too? I knew I wasn't really cut out to be an American! Should have married a Canadian instead!
I just don't think there is any escaping the horrors of photographing in winter light - sorry!

Yes, we Canadians are a sorry lot. LOL.

Your piece is adorable. I love how much you get into such a small piece.

Excellent work.

I think I'll make you an Honorary Canadian Anita. You can now say 'sorry' with no guilt. :)

Haha Ana. Nice one!

I like the smaller panels for practice work - and I do a lot of that lately! Its fun to have something small and quick to test my ability to put down values.

I'm going to look for a jug to paint. You look like you enjoyed pushing the lovely creamy oils around on this one, Jeanette.
