A touch of sun

La Jolla Cove, San Diego
5 x 7 oils

We don't seem to have seen sunshine here for a week or more and I was craving it when everytime I looked out the window it was snowing again.

This reference was in the All Media Art Event on WetCanvas and it spelled summer to me. So I pulled out my oils and a small canvas and this was the result after about an hour. After investing a some new flat brushes, it almost became an 'aha' moment using them to place values in this painting. Things just seemed to flow for the rest of the day art-wise. I'd better take advantage of that flow before it disappears again!

Jeanette, when I saw this I thought: hm, nice, spring is coming. I should have stumbled with the palm tree (though they grow around here); and then I scrolled down and... hm, yes: different picture with the snow storm. I think this is the time of year I really don't like new snow (not that there is EVER new snow here: just slush and rain), but today the sun is shining and I'm off to Loch Lomond again - this time without the fog.
Thanks for the link to the Etsy seller - I think I will drop him a note to see if he is able to do any more of these books, it just looks so delicious.

When spring hits, everything seems to grow and bloom. Sounds like your new brushes started a new season of painting in you! Way to go; keep blooming!!

I can imagine that you get thoroughly starved of sunshine in the long winter months. Human nature is a funny thing though - after living in the Saudi Arabia for a while it was amazing how tired of sunshine we got!
Teeny weeny painting - nice palette.

Gesa, I hope you're able to find a similar book, they're beautiful and wonderful to work with.

Spring is awhile coming yet Tracy. But new brushes help inspire sometimes.

Winter here is so long Anita, its becomes very tiresome. We had sun for a lot of the weekend, now more snow due tomorrow! Sick of sun...I can't imagine it.
