Feather

Sometimes words are superfluous and objects stand on their own. This is a pristine feather found in the garden from a Northern Flicker woodpecker.

Often they wake me in the morning by drumming on the side of the house. Not really popular at 5am, but still beautiful.

Fantastic bird, Jeanette - who could resist painting that.

I'm always picking up feathers - think I'm a candidate for bird flu?

Wonderful photos, Jeanette! We get North American flickers here at our feeders on our deck, and they're spectacularly dramatic birds. I just love watching them--right now, we have a pair of them who visit us daily.

Yup, lovely photos...I too am always picking up feathers. Yesterday's walk yielded two new turkey feathers.

How soft and delicate they are!

That feather is gorgeous! It looks like a painting, all in itself.
