Masai portrait update - more beads!

I'm starting to feel almost human again and with that, is coming ideas and the need to create.

I pulled out the portrait of the Masai woman and started adding more beads.  I need to work on this and complete it.  Funny how we put off the more tedious parts of a drawing isn't it?  They're a bit like doing housework.  Necessary, not not too exciting.

My only concern with the beads is that my paper (mi tientes) hasn't got a lot of tooth and I've reached the limit on some areas of the beads.  I'll try a light spray of fixative and see if that will give a little more grab for the final highlights.

Glad you are feeling better. I love the way this has come together. Sculpting the beads has really made it pop.

How long before you do beads again? It's really beautiful.

glad you are feeling better :)
hope the fixative works to give the paper more tooth. i guess you could always use paint if it doesn't work. i love the paper, but do hate that it doesn't have a lot of tooth.

Housework??? Whats that???? :o)

This is such a beautiful drawing - its definitely worth all those hours of painstaking beadwork

Thanks Lori!

Its getting there Pat, thanks for dropping by.

They're a bit tedious Jeanne, but once you start into it, its not bad. Glad you like it.

Yes a touch of paint or even ink could work for final details if the fixative doesn't work. Good idea Jennifer, thanks.

Housework does go to the back of the list Sue. Bead creation is much more preferable!

This is breathtaking work and I so admire your talent and skill! The sculpting of her head, the turning away of her face, the beadwork...all of it makes for a truly stunning work of art. Have you ever thought of entering your work in the drawing books by NorthLight Book Club? They feature the best of the best and I can't imagine that this wouldn't get in - they are called
Strokes of Genius and they are doing a series (on number 3 right now).

Thanks Rhonda. I love the lighting in this piece and think that is what is appealing about it.

I hadn't considered entering this in anything at this point, as it isn't complete. But it may be something to consider for the future. Thanks for the thought.

Thank you Tina, I'm happy you enjoy it. This cold is on its way out, but just doesn't want to leave me it seems!

This is so amazing and on mi tientes paper which does
not have much tooth for holding pastel.

So glad that you are feeling better.

Jeannette this AMAZING! Love it. Even if you find no more tooth on the paper: from where I'm sitting it looks simply super!

Thanks Peggy, feeling a lot better now.

Teresa, thanks. Yes, the beads are becoming done almost on remote control now. :) Nearly there...

Sheona, thank you. I'm fighting with a section over the tooth of the paper but am not giving in yet!
