Year end finale

Yesterday I posted my evaluation of 2010 based on my goals I had set at the beginning of the year.  Well there are a couple of more things to add to that, thanks to Katherine Tyrrell of Making a Mark and to the art blogging voters.

1.  I received the "Going Greener Gong"  for my work with gyotaku fish printing and the connection with the realities of the fishery in this province.

This award is for the art blog which Katherine found most stimulating in relation to getting us in touch with nature and the environment.

2.  Tripod, my cat has won "The Moose"

Named after the first winner of this award.  This award is for particularly noteworthy artwork about an animals or animals (wild or domestic) posted to an art or illustrated blog in 2009
Tripod gives his reaction below.  He crops up a lot in the blog in drawings and photos whether I want him to or not. (picking cat hair out of the paint)

3.   My image of A Tangle of Capelin shared third place with James Hollingsworth's Black Grapes No. 3 in the The MAM Award for Best Picture of the Year on an Art Blog

This is awarded to the picture which got the most votes cast in the poll.

Thank you Katherine and thank you to everyone who took time to view and vote.  Congratulations to all the winners who created such beautiful art in 2010.

Tripod on winning 'The Moose'

The female human disturbed my sleep this afternoon to tell me that I was a moose. She does ramble on sometimes and I don't understand half of what she's saying, but I tried to pay attention as she seemed insistent.  But I had some questions about this moose thing.

Ok, now I'm awake, more or less.  What do you want?

Is there tuna, treats or live animals involved in this?
Do I have to pose for more photos?  I wish you'd put that camera away...

So no food, I've won a moose and you want me to be happy about it?

Wait!  I've won a moose!!!  They're big!  But I can take one on.  It will impress the ducks, they're not too smart at the best of times.

What do you mean, be nice?

Ok, here goes.....thank you Katherine for The Moose Award, I love you to bits.  There will be a small package labelled 'fresh meat' arriving at your door soon.

I'll just go out to the barn and rustle up something special for you.

I'll have my people call your people to arrange something.  Happy New Year to everyone. Now back to my nap....zzzzzzzz

Congratulations on all your artistic achievements this past year and the artful progression of your work. I love the fish - all of them - there is something so special about the color and compositions - wonderful work! Browsing through your blog was an interesting and enlightening experience.

Congrats on the GG Gong, MAM 3rd place win and 'The Moose'! You must be thrilled however Tripod's reaction was underwhelming at best. Of course, he IS a cat so what can one expect.

Oh that was so funny! I hooted - exactly as I expect him to be!

Well done Jeanette - I think your art has really turned a corner this year - I'm ever so impressed by it. May the fish be with you in 2011!

Congratulations, Jeanette. Your name and your blog were mentioned several times in the awards area of Katherine's blog and it was so good to see your hard work earning you more recognition. As for Tripod, well, may he always remain so...um...humble? ha ha

Thank you Susan, it was lovely for you to stop by and comment. Your work is inspiring to me, beautiful paintings you make.

Thanks so much Casey, all awards were unexpected and I'm delighted.

Thank you Billie. Yes I am thrilled to be recognized in these categories. Its wonderful!

Well yes Tripod was his usual grumpy self and he'd just woken up. Lets hope it doesn't go to his head!

Oh Katherine, Tripod doesn't pull his punches. See what I have to put up with?? However, he is very pleased about it, as I am with the Going Greener Gong and the 3rd place share for Picture of the Year. Thank you again. Now the bar is set higher, I shall have to work even harder in 2011!

Thank you Rhonda. Its good to have peer recognition. It means a lot to me. As for Tripod, he's just being Tripod. Its all about him. I have to deal with this every day!

Happy New Year Denise and thank you. I do work and it always amazes me to get an award at any level for it. I keep wondering, did they make a mistake? Me?

Tripod loves attention so The Moose is right up his alley. No doubt I'll hear about it as a bargaining chip for more treats...

Thanks Sue. Its a delight to have these awards. Tripod, as you can see by his expression, is not as delighted about having his photo taken. His interest in winning The Moose award kept him in place! Happy New Year!

Vivien, I'm working on plans for 2011 as I type and look forward to sharing more art and slices of life as the year progresses.

Happy new year, hope its your best year ever.

Thank you Jennifer. Tripod and cameras don't go together well, so this series of images were pure luck.

Thanks Tracy, I appreciate your support.

Sue, thank you. Shhhh don't let Tripod hear you! His head will become even bigger and he'll be even more demanding if he has his own blog! :)

Thanks Stacy, I'm thrilled to be recognized for the work over the past year.

I'm glad the girls are enjoying Tripod. Tell them he sends purrs in thanks.

Chris, thanks so much, I'm pleased you enjoy my work and Tripod!

LOL Tripod - You know you deserve it.

Congratulations, Jeanette - what stunningly beautiful things you have done with fish this year. I know there more where that came from for 2011 and it is such a delight and an inspiration to see an artist burst into full bloom as you have.
