More ears

In between eating, drinking and napping over Christmas I've still been sketching ears, both in pencil and pen and ink.   In a previous blog post I threw out a challenge for drawing ears that's still open until December 31st if you want to add a link to ears that you've drawn.

Be warned, it can be addictive!

I'm intrigued by your ear project... for a few reasons. During the holiday gatherings this year, I experienced more instances of people NOT HEARING other people. Everybody was glued to their technology, that they couldn't even process sound vibrations. We have this intricate system for hearing that we aren't using to it's fullest capacity any more. Also I'm intrigued by the very shape of the ear's parts. It makes a very pleasing composition, kind of emulating the golden ratio when you think about it. And I never thought about it until you brought it up!

An interesting post on ears - and an interesting comment from Katherine. Are we no longer truly using our natural gifts - such as truly listening to another? Am I guilty of this, also, turning away from someone speaking because something beside them has caught my eye? 'ears to a wonderful 2014 for us all - and to using our ears better this year!

You're correct Katherine on several points, and the ears can become symbolic in respect to listening. The shapes are reminiscent of the golden ratio, perhaps why drawing them becomes appealing.

Rhonda, society is bombarded with information and distraction these days and getting people to stop looking at their smart phones long enough to have a conversation becomes a challenge.

Ha! Suz truly I haven't concentrated on ears for such a long time for many years. Perhaps 2014 should be my year to hone up on body parts. A month per body part...hmmm that could be interesting.

These are great Jeanette, beautiful lines and shading. really love the differences.
I would have commented sooner but I am just back online after being without power for 7 days. Lovely to have water again.

Gwen, no power for 7 days! How horrible. I'll bet its good to have water again - and everything else. That storm really played havoc with the eastern world didn't it? Its usually us who get the ice.
