I still have the apple challenge in the back of my head and ideas are swirling around. This afternoon, I tried this quick one. Its a macro view of an apple that turns into an almost abstract this close up.
This in in oils on an 8 x 8 inch canvas panel.
Very intriguing Jeanette! I did a little apple sketching last night - but struggled to come up with a composition that I liked. This is very clever my friend. :D
ReplyDeleteI love the colours in this :D You can tell its an apple, but it is very abstract and simple. Works really well
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it Rose. It was a spur of the moment thing which often the best pieces come from. I find that if I think about things too much they won't work. I need to let them find me.
ReplyDeleteIts so bright and warm isn't Jennifer? Perhaps a green version would be a good companion piece. I like the kind of abstract feel to it as well.
a green version would look really nice next to this on a wall. The colours would really play well off of each other
ReplyDeleteI love this! The push out of the picture plane and into the viewer's space reminds me of the Georgia O'Keeffe paintings I saw in the Lifetime movie last night. This is simple and yet has a jauntiness, a strength, an unexpected thrust forward one doesn't think of when thinking of the lowly little apple :)
ReplyDeleteYum - an apple touched by light. Lovely, Jeanette.
ReplyDeleteI like this up close and personal look at an apple. It's recognizable but unexpected.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rhonda. Apples when closely inspected, have a lot of complexities that we often overlook.
ReplyDeleteThe smell of apples fills the studio and acts as further inspiration for this Robyn.
Close crops of subjects often make interesting paintings Stacy. It a mix of abstract and reality.
What a great pair of paintings and your right about the contrast. Just perfect. The greens you used are just green apple perfect, too.
ReplyDeleteRemarkable! Love all the color variations!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of zooming in like this
ReplyDeleteWonderful vibrant colors, and I love the macro perspective here.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful Jeanette I love the brush strokes!
