Joining the dots

My week has been wildly busy.  Christmas is nearly on the doorstep and I'm well behind in preparation with not a decoration to be seen or the scent of a seasonal cake in the air.  This weekend I'll need to get moving and make some progress.  Busyness unfortunately often leaves painting and drawing in the background and I really don't like that and feel uneasy if I don't get something down on paper or canvas.  I have a few stolen moments in early morning or evening and still try to do some drawing of something each day.

Here's a small pointillist ink piece done with half an eye to the news.  A little silver ornament was next to me.  A pen and paper not far away and this was the result.
I should do another pen and ink piece.  Its quite soothing, all those little dots and seeing them take shape on paper.

  1. You are so productive ... those hidden little moments that you don't let pass by without doing something artistic, really pays off. Your work is always so well done and a joy to see. Enjoy the up and coming days and get your creative fix in a domestic way ... if you can.

    Happy Holidays .... Cheers!

  2. Nancy, thanks for your kind words. I don't think I could let a day pass without at least a sketch in it at some point.

    Merry Christmas.

  3. This is beautiful and I admire your attention - all those little dots while watching t.v.? You never let a day go by without creating something and I always enjoy seeing your works in all mediums. I hope you catch up on Christmas before it gets here.

  4. I really like this drawing and the idea of finding time is great too. I will try that idea if I get a chance to sit at all. I also am finding that art is what is changed at this time of year. I did painting last night but it was with frosting on cookies. "Art we eat" is the way my 3 year old grandson talked about his painting with colored frosting.

  5. Rhonda, my version of watching tv is a glance for 10 seconds every 10 minutes. Tv does nothing for me at all. I'd rather be doing anything else usually, so if trapped with the box, I draw. :)

Artbyrae, art takes many forms and its very true that we eat with our eyes before our mouths so your grandson has got it right!
