Peter Pan

Full of fresh air

Today is my eldest daughter's birthday - her 31st birthday. And when she stopped by the store to get a bottle of wine tonight, she got carded, much to her delight. There seems to be a bit of a Peter Pan syndrome when it comes with aging in the family which is both good and bad, depending on what age you are. Its great when you're older and don't look your age, but harder when you're trying to get into clubs or bars, even when you're legal age and no one believes you.

Today they went on boat tour out of Bay Bulls to see whales and wild bird colonies. It must have been exhausting as this sketch is the result of the afternoon's adventure. The stub from the tour I had to include when I scanned the sketch just to remind me of the day.

i can relate to your daughter, Jeanette. i hit 30 HARD. i think i will die at 60 cuz it had all the earmarks of a mid-life crisis. 40 was just another day for me...50 the same. oddly enough i got carded at 31. first time ever, too! it made me feel a whole lot better at the time.

Jeanette sorry to sound so ingnorant but I had never heard the expression "carded".

Happy Birthday to your daughter and I love the sketch as usual.

Billie, I think all the milestone birthdays can have their own set of traumas if we let them. I don't recall 30 being a big one for me, but perhaps I just blocked it out. :)

Mary, being 'carded' may be an east coast expression or perhaps Canadian, I'm not sure. It means being asked for your ID card of course, usually when alcohol is involved.

Thanks you as always for your kind words.

After battling to keep my stomach calm on the ocean, and trompsing down to the Regatta and back, I think I deserved to catch up on my beauty sleep after all that.

But I did forget that I might get "captured" in the moment on paper!
