Two
UPDATE I so disliked the drawing that I did last night that I redrew a master line portrait at lunchtime and will transfer it to colourfix tonight. This one much better represents the child. My original drawing made her look too old. Amazing what a bit of measuring can do!

My grand daughter was two yesterday, so what better time to draw a portrait of her but now? Time does move very quickly, and I recall so vividly when she was born, such a tiny thing, then her 1st birthday devouring cake for the first time. Now two, ready for a party with all the trimmings.
I am doing this piece on colourfix paper and using Derwent Coloursoft pencils. The paper colour isn't purple, its more a soft brownish red, but I have to make do with a scanner tonight as the batteries in my camera need charging.

She is so sweet and such a wonderful to capture your memories.
Going to be lovely!
I dread being a grandmother - is that unnatural?
Thanks Jo. I'm struggling with it a bit and it may be trashed and restarted.
I had the same feelings Anita. Just hated the thought and initially it was very odd. It reinforces your mortality, but you soon get used to it.
I think your scanner has done a good job on the paper colour, Jeanette - looks brown/red to me.
She looks like quite a little lady already, you granddaughter. I can't believe it's two years since she was born.
I do occasionally roll the 'grandmother' word around in my mouth, just in case I have to swallow it one day! ;)
I agree with Robyn, she does look like quite a little lady - a rather 'mature' expression. This is going to be a beautiful piece Jeanette. Your drawing is fantastic and I think it will look beautiful on the Colorfix paper. I can't wait to see more!
Robyn, she looked a little too mature so I've dumped the first drawing and started over. Yes, grandmother may arrive on your doorstep one day. You'll have fun with it.
Thanks Teresa. I had to fix it as it was bugging me because it wasn't correct. Now she looks more her age. Poor child, I was trying to make her older!
i'll bet she'd love to look older. most kids do. i missed your first attempt but this one looks great!
What a beauty!
