1986

Its funny to look back on art done years ago and see where you came from, what you produced and how you change over time.

This oil painting is one that I did in 1986.  This was of my niece who was about two years old at the time and in the UK staying for a visit with me.  Looking at it now, there is so much I want to tweak, but it should stay as it is as it marks a moment in time for both her and me.

However, that background...just a little tweak...

I understand about tweeking. But how nice to see things we have done before and see the growth.

The sense of the little girl's personality is strong despite any imperfections Jeanette... it's charming.

It would be interesting to paint this portrait again now...
She nibbled at candies as those who you painted in the watercolor?
So cute this little girl!
Kind regards.

Well, this just shows how well you painted in 1986! I think the bg is a bit dark and moody for such a little girl - and that white hat almost overpowers her (but that's a costume problem, not a painting problem). But I'd leave it as is and look back again in another decade and see where you've been and where you've gone :)

That is so true Nancy. We need to see where we came from to see progress.

Thanks Hedera.

Yes it would be fun to do this one again Olivia. Perhaps I may try it one day and see what happens.

Thanks Rhonda. Its good to see our successes and progress.

She was wearing one of my berets at the time which was huge on her. The background was supposed to be a stone wall but that didn't turn out quite as anticipated. But its done and its there and rather fun to look back on.
