Bramleys
When I was expecting my eldest daughter I had cravings for anything sour, mostly fruit, and would stop by the greengrocers on the way home to buy a variety of fruits that I would then eat for supper. I guess things could have been worse, I could have craved cakes. Supper would also consist of sliced cucumbers in vinegar some nights. That craving for tart had to be fed!
The apples that I always chose were Bramleys. These were big, mis-shaped apples that were very sour and usually used in cooking when sugar would be added. They were often termed 'cooking apples'. I haven't seen them in Newfoundland, and may just have to grow them if I want them.
This little painting I did in about 30 minutes while clearing off the remaining oil paint off my palette before starting fresh. Its 5 x 7 on canvas panel and a memory painting which are good to try now and then as long as you don't expect perfection.
After supper tonight I looked out the window and saw Tripod. Do you think he needs to go on suicide watch or is doing his version of a Tiananmen Square-type protest over something? That cat concerns me...

Tripod is just checking your brakes for you....oh wait, yeah I'd be concerned! LOL
Great apple! I think Tripod will be OK, probably watching you and snickering. Ours used to sprawl across the stove top.It was a gas stove, with pilot lights. There was the occasional sent of smoking cat fur but he wouldn't move until he was good and ready. Or until Mom came home.
crazy kitty!
Great painting! Tripod definetly has a sense of humor! LOL!!!
Love that apple - I can almost taste that sour tangy first bite rushing over my tongue! Tripod - ha ha - he definitely has a morbid sense of humor! ha ha
Concerned Brenda? All the time...he's such a strange beast.
Dianne, I think they like to test the boundaries sometimes don't they? Visions on cat on the stove...
Totally insane he is Lisa!
Thanks Kaye. Sense of humour or just really dumb? LOL
I loved those green sour apples, shame I can't get them here Rhonda.
As for Tripod...makes me wonder how he lost that leg...she has no fear of cars whatsoever. Half the time I have to reverse the car because he's standing in front of it and won't move. No fear.
Gutapfel - that means "good apple" in German - and there are a bunch of folks in our area with that as a last name - pronounced variously Goo-tahp-full and Gup-ta-fell! Just learn to take a quick visual all around (and under?) the vehicle and Tripod should be fine. Perhaps that's how he got his name???
Jeanette - I'm having trouble concentrating on what I'm typing because I'm still laughing at your photo of Tripod!!! What more can be said...
