Portrait update

My update is small and tentative.  I'm still finalizing my palette for this portrait of Gary Everest and confess its been wiped several times.  I want colour and movement and life in it as Gary's just that kind of person I believe.  Shots of colour below were a bit too intense, so I'm moving into a more sedate version above, but there will still be intense spots of colour to pull in the viewer.

I'm adding to it a few minutes here and here as time is limited right now, but I'll get there after my eureka moment when all falls into place and the brush takes over from the brain.

You can have a peek at Gary's progress on my portrait over on his blog.  He's hitting up the colour too!

Hi Jeanette,
Wow! This is more fun than I could have ever imagined. The thrill of seeing someone with your talent painting my portrait is so exciting to stumble upon. Actually, I didn't stumble. Soon after reading your comment, I went blog-viewing and BAM! I'm still smiling. You're doing a fantastic job and I can't thank you enough for re-suggesting we do this.
Now, if you really want to capture "me"...just throw paint all over the canvas with complete and wild abandon. Just make sure the paint thrown is transparent. I'd hate to see your drawing lost.
Seriously, it's a wonderful painting and I hope you're having as much fun as I am.
I worked, and am still working on yours. I'm not certain all of my mixtures are working, but that's part of the fun for me. I'd hate to paint like a robot. Oh, sure, it would be more cost efficient and cleaner and less time consuming, but who cares about any of that! Certainly not me! I love each experiment and color adventure. It keeps me going. And speaking of going...thanks, again for taking the time to do this. I know you actually work for a living in addition to your art work and I admire you for finding the time to do both.
Take care, Jeanette.
Sincerely,
Gary.

You both are taking the reins and running with it!! Love seeing your decisions - what stays, what changes, why you make changes - it's a learning experience for all of us!

Gary, this joint painting exercise is such fun. I really am enjoying it, despite the challenges it throws my way - and yours. But that's part of the appeal isn't it?

I'm glad you're enjoying the painting so far. I'm turning you into a colourful guy, but I think you're that already!

Celeste thanks so much for following along, we should throw it open for more people to join in for a future portrait party!

Celia, thank you, so glad you took time to stop by.

Rhonda, its a work in progress literally for me, as changes happen every time I put brush to canvas. Glad you're enjoying the journey.
