Portrait complete

I've tinkered with the portrait and added mroe layers and am calling it done for now.

I'll let it sit for a week or so then have another look and see if any needs tweaking.  The other portrait is niggling away at me now as this is one of a pair.  I may end up doing the first portrait over again to make a softer, less graphic version to go with this.  Yes, it could go on forever.

This boy has the most amazing eyes and lashes.  They seem almost artificial when painting them but they are unique and people comment on his eyes constantly.  I see a heartbreaker in the future...

This is beautiful and the child's character just shines through. I admire your handling of an open mouth with teeth, Jeanette. So hard to accomplish with truth delicacy and beauty!

That was me above - sorry!

I don't know this child but from your portrait, my guess is that he's quite a little pixie or imp!

It seems that boys are usually the ones to get the long eyelashes and beautiful eyes in the family!

What a great portrait! Thank you for showing the progression too, I am a beginner at portraits so I appreciate the step-by-step. It can be intimidating and you have inspired me to keep trying.

Thanks Vivien, he was great to work on.

Cathyann, thank you. I can't tell you how much I put off starting this one simply because of the teeth and open mouth!

He's a gorgeous child Jan and full of life.

Thank you Brian.

Sjamesportraiture, I agree. His eyes are commented on constantly by others.

Thanks Pat.

Tracy, I try to get some of the person into a portrait and if that worked in this, I'm pleased. Yes, its a happy piece isn't it?

Jgr, thank you. Portraits are never simple but they do get a little easier with practice - or at least the mistakes I make are more predictable! :)

Thank you Robyn.
