I love the contrast of white and greys on black paper and this face appearing out of the shadows becomes sinister and appealing at the same time.
Like scratchboard, working light to dark takes a bit of thought as you're letting features form themselves. They become apparent only when you form the light around them, like negative space.
I'd forgotten I started this piece and don't recall the reference for it or when I did it. I think it was done with white charcoal or pastel perhaps. Maybe even coloured pencil. It was unearthed when I did a studio clear out last week. Its amazing what you find when you clean up!

Very cool. It could be a book cover inviting someone to reach for it, open it and read.
It´s outstanding!!
Hi, I love these last few that you have done and am amazed at your varied expertise with the different media. The dancing girl is just precious, this is so mysterious and your rocks are great. Thought of you with Bill up that way.... Take care.
Thanks Pat, yes it probably could make a good cover for some mystery couldn't it? :)
Thank you Sonia.
Jo, I guess I can never decide on just one media and stick with it. That's good and that's bad, but I'm enjoying it.
The last two storms weren't as bad as predicted more heavy rain and wind then fizzled out quickly.
What a find, Jeanette! There is a bit of darkness(no pun intended)to this piece. It makes me feel like there's a story to be told here. Perhaps he's one of the 'mole people'? The homeless folk that choose to live underground and shun society. IMHO, this is a finished piece. Well done!
arg! reminds me of a pirate, well done :D
They eye and nose look like Michael Jackson.
I really like this one. Very mysterious.
I love this and your treatment of the light in the moustache lips and beard is superb. Very nice!
Wow this speaks volumes. Theres a lot of depth to this and the fact that its not a comlete face gives it that depth. Its a very eerie and sinister piece but that is part of the draw card. I like this very much.
