Gyotaku print on rice paper with watercolour
This is the completed print of the smelt that I started on its road to completion in the last post.
I really have to get my thumb out and start getting things in gear for the end of this gyotaku project. Part of me is a perfectionist. I complete a piece, put it in a frame, then do another piece that I like more. And so the cycle goes, as if I'm always trying for something better.
My to do list includes:
- obtaining exhibition space
- media releases
- poster
- promoting the workshop
- completion (perhaps 3 more) and framing of gyotaku pieces
- completing gyotaku book
- thank you prints for those who helped me find fish
- hopefully create a virtual exhibition
Each of these tasks is worthy of a blog post in its own right.
I've set myself a deadline of December 31st to have all these tasks complete, so blog posts may be a bit scarce over the next month. Oh yeah, Christmas is in there somewhere too isn't it?

Jeanette, I really like this piece with the phantom fish prints behind the main ones. Well done!
You have quite the to-do list to complete over the next month...but, you can do it!
Take care.
Fantastic
:)
It all sounds really exciting, Jeanette. I know you'll get it all done and I bet it will be beautifully showcased - you really have that knack of presenting your work in a way that makes it's quality shine. That's an art in itself!
I added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to.
God Bless You :-)

Fascinating and beautiful process Jeanette. Good luck with that formidable To Do list.
Phew! Best of luck with your list Jeanette - it's just a matter of being methodical isn't it.. I am once again seeing a rock painting in your evocative print - lovely work.
Thanks Christiane, the washes of paint do form mysterious shapes in and around the smelt.
A task a day and it will get completed.
Thanks Lara.
Thanks for your support Julie. Heading down the home stretch is both terrifying and exhilerating.
Thank you Ron, great to have you on the blog. I'll be sure to check out your blog.
Threadspider, it is such an interesting process. I may end up with many prints that I can never afford to get framed as I keep making them.
It really is a matter of biting off one piece at a time Denise and suddenly its done. It just seems daunting when it written down. Then again, there is the satisfaction of ticking off the list.
Excellente
Work
Tank you for sharing
I love your fishes, Jeanette. Your work is sooo fantastic!
Thanks Skizo.
Glad you're enjoying them Kay. After this body of work is done I may well have a break from fish. Or not, perhaps I have the bug now. :)
