Flight Path completed

The funny puffin coming in for a landing is complete and on his way to the gallery tomorrow.

I quite enjoyed painting this bird and perhaps will try another seabird in the near future.  A gull maybe if I can get the right composition and light, not that there's any shortage of gulls around here!  They're brazen and would snatch food right out of your hand given half a chance.  It always amazes me at how large the gulls are, mostly herring gulls that I see here, but there are other varieties around.  I'm just not up on them.

But for now, this little clown will head out into the world.  Its 24" x 30" in oil on gallery canvas. Gary Jones has kindly provided the reference image for this piece.

Hi Jeanette,
This is a wonderful painting and I bet is sells quickly. Won't you miss this little critter?
Best of luck and have a great week.
Sincerely,
Gary.

As Gary has just said, I bet it sells quickly too.

Thanks Gary.

I do become attached to some paintings at times, especially larger ones that fill studio space and catch my eye daily. However, its also good to know that they can go to an appreciative home. It makes the process of painting worthwhile.

I hope so Sue. The market's very lean everywhere right now, but I hope with the push in prosperity in St. John's, things will pick up in the art market.

Oooo, he's wonderful, Jeanette! The lighting you've created really makes this cutie just sing!

Thanks Pam, I'm rather fond of him and hated to leave him at the gallery today. Hopefully he'll be given a good home soon.

This is a beautiful piece. Congratulations Jeanette on capturing something very unique. It is hard as an artist to find a subject from still life to landscape that hasn't been done to death. This work has a real fresh quality due to your decision to depict a bird coming in to land. Well done!

I am trying to get away from the traditional vistas Teresa. It's interesting to depict objects or landscapes that show a side not often looked at.

My pet peeve are paintings that are too perfect, making them seem forced and overdone - and often boring.

Sometimes I succeed sometimes not. I'm glad you like this version.

nice finish :D

the gulls around here steal food right from people's hand all the time, or dive bomb people's heads :/
