Final countdown

The final touches are in place for the opening of my solo exhibition tonight. Touch wood!

I left Maria, the gallery curator, busy unwrapping and hanging paintings at the gallery yesterday.  It really is a gorgeous space to have an exhibit in an old heritage building in the heart of St. John's.

On Saturday, I'll be doing a talk at the gallery at 2pm to provide the background information, sketches and photos of boats and areas that inspired the paintings.  I have a limited number of draft books that accompany the project that I'll be giving away at the talk.  I'll also be making the book available as a free download from my website and an option to purchase a hard copy.

I hope to video the artist talk and have it available online and will try to do a short video of the paintings hung in the gallery for people unable to attend and/or in far flung places.

I did an interview with The Telegram, a local paper, about the exhibition and series  which you can read here.

So start your engines, I'd love to see you at the opening tonight and/or talk on Saturday!

Best of luck for tonight Jeanette.
Sorry I'm too far away to visit. It looks amazing.

Thanks Mary, the opening went well. I hope to be able to share more of it with people over the next few days.

There was one sale at the opening Billie and lots of interest in the paintings. Once I do the talk today, I can relax and regroup a bit.

Excellent Jen. Let me know if you find any interesting ones that may be paint worthy and we can do a deal.

Hi Jeanette,
As one of those living in "far-flung places", I'm happy you're going to make videos of your talk and your paintings! :) I would've loved to be there last night, but as you know, it's a v-e-r-y long flight.
Hope the opening was all you wished it would be.
Congratulations and all the best,

Thanks Gary. The opening was very successful with lots of people, wine and art flowing. And the added bonus of a sale at the opening and another today.

The artist talk today was great fun with a good turnout. I've added images of the paintings on my website and downloads for the book that goes with the project and my presentation today.
