Donations

This is a sketch in pen and ink and coloured pencil, which was going to be a donation to an organization for a silent auction. I wanted to frame it before I parted with it, but left it too late and didn't have a stock frame available that would fit it, so instead a print was donated instead.

I'm of two minds about donations. I don't mind supporting causes, provided I receive some recognition from the act in terms of exposure and it needs to be a cause that I have a connection with as well. It is difficult to say no to organizations which I know need support, but sometimes I just have to do so and ensure my own needs are taken care of too.

Very nice piece. The textured background works well. I'm sure you are very generous with your donations. No one can possibly support every worthwhile cause.

Learning to say no is a talent that we all need to develop. I also have tried to learn to make other people comfortable enough to be able to say no to me. I let them know that I'd rather hear no than have them do something unwillingly.

Nice drawing - I especially like your mix of colors by putting them right next to each other, such as in the background.

Your sketches are always a treat, Jeanette and I know you are a very enthusiastic person in all you commit yourself to.

I know I commented on this last week and POOF it is not here.
I love this piece. It is a great idea for donating. Your composition is crisp and would make a wonderful cover for an annual. They should hire you for illustration.
