Glass completed

Broken glass
graphite on mat board 7 x 12
copyright Jeanette Jobson

This is the completed drawing for a glass tutorial that I've finished. Well, almost finished. I have to clean up the image a little and finish some explanations of techniques then its done. Oh and the formatting. See? There's so much to do!

People often have problems finding me when they come to visit, even if the directions are fairly straight forward. Today I was playing around on Google Earth and found they give an option now of saving or printing an image. This image gives you an idea of where I live and my surround of trees, trees and more trees, interspersed with rocks and ponds or lakes. The images of some areas aren't as developed as others on Google Earth, but you get the general idea. The house is the light grey area on the right, the barn the dark grey on the left and the greenhouse further up centrally in the fields.

love the glass :)

very cool seeing an overview of the area you live in. Google Earth can be such a handy thing sometimes (the area we live is just a brown and green blurry mess when viewed with Google Earth). of course when they don't have the right names of streets, or even the right town name, lots of problems happen when trying to get to a friend's place lol

I'm currently doing some work on mat board - and liking it very much. It certainly seems to work very well with graphite.

Gosh the 'Goggle' earth view makes you look very rural indeed - all those trees! I always imagine you have sea nearby as well

Thanks Jennifer. Google Earth has its challenges and images aren't as crisp as they could be in some areas. But its still fascinating.

I find mat board very similar to illustration board and very forgiving in terms of correcting mistakes.

The sea is close by Katherine, about 5 minutes away from me but I don't have a sea view where I am. Well, not unless I get up on top of the roof of the barn!

Jeanette, the glass is so beautiful. You have soooo much patience.

I love your home. I'm going to check mine out. Thanks.

Thanks Jo. I like piecing together the slivers of light and shade and watching it come into a form, but the bottoms of this gave me grief in terms of complex forms!

Isn't Google Earth such fun?
