One down

I'm pushing myself to get these cat portraits done for the client as there are more pieces in the wings waiting.  And, of course, I'm sure the person would like to have them as soon as possible, as we all do when we order something.

Here is one of the cats that I'm calling complete, pending approval.  I should have the second done this weekend, perhaps even most of the third if I ignore housework, cooking and any other distractions!

I find coloured pencil difficult to replicate in true colours in either a scan or a photo.  The paper that this is on is bluer than show here but the fur colour is pretty much as I have drawn it.  This is the 'rogues' gallery' waiting to be completed.

Rogues gallery...lol. This particular cat is my favorite even though the one on black paper is a close second. I can't imagine your customer not approving of this portrait. It beautiful!

very soft looking fur and the eyes on all of them are so lifelike :)

scanning coloured pencil is a pain, some colour is usually always wrong :/

I love them all and look forward to seeing the others when complete.

I agree about scanning/photographing coloured pencil pics. I've just finished a brother/sister portrait and spent nearly as much time trying to 'tweak' the colour on the scans as I did to draw the original.

These are looking beautiful Jeanette - I love them, especially the one done on blue paper - brings out those gorgeous blue eyes!!

Thanks Billie and yes they did approve it. Now I have to get the others done.

I love drawing eyes of any kind Jennifer. And yes cp is a pain to capture isn't it?

Thanks Sue. I wish there were an easier way to scan or photograph cp without spending forever trying to make it look right.

Thank you Pat.

Karen, I initially was wondering if it was a good choice as there wasn't a lot of contrast in the blue against the paler cat, but I like the softer look to it.

All of your cats are beautifully done. Great detail. But.....do you ever rest and relax away from work and art?????

You mean there are other things in life Terry?? :)

To be honest work and art take up a lot of my time, however I also have other interests but rarely blog about them. I rarely just kick back and 'relax' - its not in my nature, I'd be bored to death.
