I've been looking more closely at cut surfaces of fruit and vegetables and find them quite interesting. Heirloom tomatoes in particular are full of colour and are quite beautiful. I've been setting up still life pieces today trying to find just the right one that will speak to me. A snowy, blowy day gives me no excuse not to get some painting done.
Meanwhile, this tomato slice was painted over the last couple of nights. Its oil on 8 x 8 gallery canvas.

I think I want to eat it lol. I haven't done a painting in a while. Just haven't been feeling it. Scary. I've been doing some photography though.. so I suppose there is still some creative juice flowing. Keep the paintings coming. They always make me smile
Beautiful ... really well done. Great juicy subject.
lovely jeanette! i love the intricacies of a cut tomato and you've done it beautifully.
Wanting to eat it is a good sign Wai Li! :) Creativity comes in many forms and photography is great.
Nancy, I had great fun painting this one with lots of ideas for future pieces too.
Suzanne, tomatoes are just full of detail. I guess I'd never really studied a cut one before. Thanks for taking time to comment.
Juicy!
Beautiful painting - such lifelike colours!!! :)
Lisa thanks.getting that juiciness to show was great fun and a good exercise in values as there are such subtle changes in colour throughout.
Karen thanks so much. The colours drew me to the fruit initially and now U have new varieties lined up for more painting! :)
