Storm Warning

 Storm Warning
This painting is available for purchase on my website

There are many small boats around Newfoundland and Labrador, all along the coast, not as many as there used to be with the fishery closed, but they can still be found tied up to wharves or rocks, waiting like patient dogs to be taken out.

A sudden wind and rough seas can spell the end for small vessels and this one had the fortune of being moored snug against the sea wall, waiting out the storm.   Its bright colour would be easily spotted against the dark grey of a stormy sea.

This is a knife painting, lots of juicy colour and loose strokes.  I got covered in paint while doing and had great fun.  Its 9" x 12" in oil on canvas panel.

I've only done one knife painting and I loved it ... it was fast and fun. This one is great.

Here on the NW coast our small dinghy's are mostly used for getting back and forth from land to boat etc. We've spent a lot of fun times in our small dinghy ... good memories.

I just went to your web-site. I don't remember seeing this one, it must be pretty new .... I LOVE IT. Really a great job Jeanette.

Nancy, thank you. Its fun to use a different technique now and then. This loosens me up a lot and lets me just have fun instead of concentrating too hard on a piece.

its always fun when you get covered in paint when painting :D

after a big storm on the lake, there was usually a small boat wrecked on the beach, nothing like there tho i am sure

I like the strokes showing as you shaped everything with the palette knife. It gives this little boat such energy!

Oh I was well covered Jennifer, so was everything else. :)

Yes, there are some wild storms here on the Atlantic coast.

Thanks Rhonda, its so different using a knife to paint with. It forces me to go very loose and that is very useful at times.
