I've had a little time to deepen the tones more on Horus. I'm still feeling my way in rendering fur with these pencils, so its a bit hit or miss. They don't erase well either so I have to plan my strokes carefully. Hopefully, one more session and he will be done, then back to more details on the other portrait.
I was sorting out some insurance related details for my mother yesterday and caught her intently reading the letter from the company. I made a quick sketch in my Moleskine and may enlarge it and turn it into a watercolour when I get a chance.
Finally, I'll include the duck image that I mentioned yesterday as Blogger now seems to be cooperating. These are the Pekin ducks lounging in the shade of the laburnum trees.Technorati tags: art, drawing, portrait, cat, sketch, ducks, moleskine

Oh wow, even a quick sketch of your mother came out looking nothing like a 'quick sketch'! I enjoy seeing your skill and talent -- you capture people so well. I've never been able to do so in any realistic capacity, even when I was taking an art class for university.
The portrait of Horus is coming along so nicely. Those pencils seem to work really well (the difficulty to erase issue notwithstanding). Can't wait to see the finished product!
Thanks Mallika. People and animals are what I enjoy drawing most, so I guess it comes through and makes it easier for me to capture them.
Yes the pencils are lovely to work with even if they make me think a bit more. :o)
