I'm in the throes of a larger oil painting but when I find a few minutes to spare I still draw. Its almost reflex action at this point. This was a little sketchbook drawing that will be the basis of a larger piece. Its a friend's daughter who sucks her thumb and twirls her curls at the same time. Its adorable.

I don't know about others, but I have pieces of unfinished art or jewelry in various stages in various rooms of the house. This past weekend I gathered them up and brought them to the studio as I'd bought a new storage unit to house the waifs and strays.

This is one of the jewelry pieces that is now on Etsy. I used a lovely stone that I found on the beach locally. The lines going through it couldn't have been better designed and remind me of art nouveau designs, so simple and clean.

I love your jewelry - tried making some myself for a while. Love the pendant stone on this piece - think I really need this piece for me! It quite clearly is an A!

Sweet little sketch.

This is just a precious drawing of your friends little girl. I do hope you will post progress pictures of this painting when you get going on it.

I couldn't tell you about the thumb thing...but I was a 'hair twister' as a child and still yet today will slip back when I'm particularly tired. OPS..now you know my awful secret!

mmmm I like that necklace - a lot!

and I used to suck my thumb and twiddle my hair like that when I was young - and so did my elder daughter :>) - though she preferred to reach up and play with my hair if she was on my knee

Its the stone great Anita? I have a few more pieces in the works with similar stones that I found. As today is a snow day, I might get some time to do something with them.

Hope your arm is doing better.

Marsha, she's a sweetie and I just love it when she does this. Its ok, your secret is safe with me. :)

Vivien, this stone was what I mentioned in Watermarks in connection with Sarah's piece as I think its the same or a similar stone. I just have no knowledge of geology so can't identify it.

Funny you mention your daughter twirling your hair while she sucked her thumb. This child did something similar when her brother was ill. She sat next to him, sucked her thumb and twirled his hair. Til he told her to go away lol

This necklace has me drooling ....and mentally doing math. How much money do I have in the cookie jar? Hmmm

That necklace is just what I need for a lot of things I wear. Wonderful work Jeanette, and the sketch is precious, I will be looking forward to the painting.

The necklace is indeed different Peggy. If you miss this one, I should have some more available soon.

Thanks Mary, I hope to get this painting underway in a week or so. I like this necklace too because its neutral and goes with a lot of things.

that stone is a true find. what i little 'gem'!

the portrait is going to be adorable. I've seen many kids displaying these little habits. especially if they are lost in thought or stressed.

btw, my access word when i went to post was sweetot. coincidence?

I agree Billie, I just love the natural lines and shape of this stone.

I just think the habit is so cute. Provided she grows out of it before she's 20 :)

That's funny with the access word.

Very cool stone, Jeanette! You can find a lot of these on Topsail Beach.

That sketch of your daughter caught my eye, because years ago my younger brother did the same thing. It's really a lovely sketch.
